Faculty and Students from the School of Information and Communication Attend the 2025 Annual Conference on Information Behavior Research

From November 22 to 23, 2025, the 2025 Annual Conference on Information Behavior Research of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information (CSSTI) was held at Central China Normal University. Professor Li Yuelin, Assistant to the President, Director of the Teaching Affairs Office, and Dean of the School of Information and Communication, together with Professor Fan Zhenjia, Vice Dean of the School of Information and Communication, NKU, led a delegation including Associate Professors Xiao Xue, Yao Xinlin, and Zhang Yao, as well as several master's and doctoral students to attend the conference.

On the morning of November 22, Dean Li Yuelin delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, offering sincere congratulations on the conference on behalf of the CSSTI Information Behavior Research Professional Committee. She highlighted both the opportunities and challenges for information behavior research in the era of artificial intelligence, and encouraged committee members to actively contribute their expertise to the development of an independent knowledge system.

Throughout the conference, faculty and students from the School actively engaged in various academic sessions. During the long- and short-paper presentation sessions on the afternoon of November 22 and the morning of November 23, Professor Fan Zhenjia and Associate Professor Yao Xinlin served as moderator and commentator, respectively, for the sub-forum on Information Behavior in Diverse Communities. Doctoral student Ji Xiangfei (Class of 2025) and master's students Zhang Yaping and Wang Yongjie (Class of 2025) from the Department of Information Resources Management presented their papers in related sub-forums. Their presentations were titled: Mechanisms Behind 'Lying Flat' Behaviors Regarding Personal Data Privacy, Elderly Perceptions of Misinformation-Refuting Services in Small Communities: Satisfaction and Improvement Strategies, and Information Experiences of 'Silver-haired Internet Influencers' in Institutional Elderly Care: A Practice-Based Phenomenological Analysis. In addition, Professor Fan Zhenjia convened a special discussion on Research Actions in Chinese Information Behavior for the Construction of an Independent Knowledge System. Scholars from Renmin University of China, Sun Yat-sen University, Hebei University, Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics, and Xi'an University of Science and Technology participated in the discussion, reaching consensus on the construction of an independent knowledge system and the high-quality development in the field of information behavior.

The conference was hosted by the CSSTI Information Behavior Research Professional Committee and organized by the School of Information Management, Central China Normal University. It brought together more than 300 experts, scholars, and young students from over 70 universities and research institutes across the country. Centering on the main topic of Deep Integration of AI Technologies and Information Behavior Research, participants jointly explored theoretical innovation directions and practical application paths for information behavior research against the backdrop of the AI Plus initiative.

The CSSTI Information Behavior Research Professional Committee was established at NKU in 2021. Professor Li Yuelin serves as the Director of the Committee, and Professor Fan Zhenjia serves as its Secretary-General. Since its establishment, the Committee has consistently responded to national and societal needs, establishing a high-level platform for strategic planning and academic exchange in the field of information behavior research. It is dedicated to promoting the development of a scholarly community in information behavior research and actively conveying the voices of Chinese scholars to the international information behavior research community.
