On November 7 at 9 a.m., Tianjin's celebration of China's 26th Journalists' Day was held in the lecture hall on the second floor of the Science Library at Tianjin University's Weijin Road Campus. A six-member delegation of faculty and students from the School of Information and Communication participated alongside representatives from the city's journalism community and journalism education sector at this industry gathering, which aimed to pay tribute to journalists' original aspirations and discuss the mission of the profession.

Representatives from our School
Lei Ming, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University, and Ma Bo, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, delivered speeches. They reviewed the development achievements of Tianjin's journalism over the past year, sent their greetings to journalists across the city on the occasion of the Journalists' Day, and called on local media professionals to rise to the challenges of the times and contribute to writing a new chapter of Chinese modernization amid the ongoing transformation of mainstream media.
The event featured a highlights reel from the 2025 Tianjin Good Journalists Tell Good Stories speech contest, showcasing the vivid and heartfelt professional experiences of Tianjin's journalists. This was followed by the announcement of the winners in Tianjin of the 35th China Journalism Award and the first-prize winners of the 2025 Tianjin Good Journalists Tell Good Stories speech contest.
The event concluded with a thematic speech on the construction of new mainstream media by Professor Qi Yalin, Executive Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He emphasized that the goal is to develop media that are all-round, holographic, all-staff, and all-effective, and proposed an evaluation framework covering communication, guiding capacity, influence, credibility, and competitiveness.
Participants noted that the celebration provided valuable industry experience and expert insights, deepening their understanding of the mission and requirements of journalism and communication in the new era. It is hoped that the School will further integrate advanced industry concepts and experiences into talent development, helping students grow into young professionals with patriotic sentiment, solid professional competence, and innovative capabilities.
