School of Journalism and Communication Holds Graduate Forum for the Class of 2025

On June 12, the School of Journalism and Communication held a graduate forum for the Class of 2025 at Xiushan Hall. Graduate representatives, all members of the school's leadership group, faculty representatives, and supporting staff gathered together for open and in-depth discussions on topics such as school development, talent cultivation, curriculum design, internships and practical training, as well as personal growth. The event was filled with both laughter and tears, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

Ten student representatives, including Fan Yue, Ge Yunfei, Shen Wenhan, Zou Chenchen, Xiang Cuiyun, Cai Leyi, Zhou Yu, Fan Ling, Tian Haitian, and Wu Ying, actively made suggestions for the School's development. Regarding infrastructure, they recommended further improving facilities to create a more favorable learning environment. In terms of curriculum, they hoped the School would provide platforms for showcasing course outcomes to stimulate students' interest. As for professional practice, they looked forward to strengthened industry-wide exchange and cooperation, with more platforms to expand internship and employment opportunities, thereby cultivating versatile media professionals with practical skills.

The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the School and faculty for their guidance, education, and support.

Xiang Cuiyun, an international student from Vietnam, demonstrated her learning achievements in fluent Chinese and suggested that the School strengthen its international outreach.

Faculty members responded to the students' concerns one by one, noting that issues requiring long-term solutions would be carefully studied, continuously monitored, and effectively addressed.

The forum also served as a consultation session, where members of the leadership group invited graduates to offer constructive suggestions on various aspects. These included strengthening the political and organizational functions of student Party branches to enhance their vitality and contributions to the School's development; optimizing the curriculum system and improving the quality of student education; and promoting students' mental health and overall growth.

On behalf of the faculty, Ma Ruijie extended her best wishes to all graduates. Using detours in life as a metaphor, she encouraged students to listen to their inner voice when making choices, avoid being overly fixated on shortcuts, and embrace detours as an integral part of life. She left them with these words: May you carry the imprint of Nankai University, stay true to your heart, and create a rich and fulfilling life of your own.
